WHAT IS IT?

Floating License Server enables automatic license management. There is no more manual license key required when new systems come online; this is particularly critical for cloud migration and test automation in dynamic environments.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Floating License Server is installed on a dedicated server to provide a pool of licenses to be shared across the enterprise for systems on premise or in the Cloud. Time Machine systems checks out the license automatically when the service starts and release the license when it stops. If a system comes up in the cloud for test automation for the duration of just one hour, it will utilize the license for one hour and release the license for others to use after termination.

WHAT SETS IT APART?

The pool of licenses can be shared by Time Machine systems with any CPU core count and across different OS platforms, such as Windows, Linus, and Unix. The ability to share licenses across different OS platforms automatically provides efficiency, flexibility, and cost savings for the enterprise. It also handles CPU elasticity where CPU core count can be adjusted dynamically on-the-fly. The size of the pool of licenses can be adjusted on-the-fly as well.
